Independent Evaluation Consultant Appointed

Gaslight Media Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Adriana Valderrama to conduct an independent evaluation of our current three-year delivery of Epilogues: The Human Face of Conflict funded by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust and the Irish Government’s Reconciliation Fund.

Epilogues: The Human Face of Conflict comprises twelve deliveries of our epilogues conflict transformation programme on a cross community basis to women’s groups across Northern Ireland. These deliveries are augmented by each cohort of graduates coming together a month or so after delivery to reflect on what if any have been the long-term impacts of having completed epilogues, and to look in a more focused way on applying the learning to the issues of the day. Thereafter graduates from each cluster of four deliveries are invited to a Gathering of graduates to widen and deepen the learning and connections already forged and to explore possible next steps for each participant as active citizen, be that on an individual or a collective basis going forward.

Adriana, is a Psychologist and holds a PhD in Heritage and Museum Studies and a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, brings over 10 years of work experience in issues relating to political transitions, conflict resolution, violence, memory, culture, and peace-building. She is a former Director of Casa de la Memoria Museum in Medellin, Colombia.

Adriana is herself a two-time graduate of Epilogues, completing the program first in 2009 during her Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Ulster, Magee. Subsequently, during her PhD at the same institution, she participated in a local delivery hosted by the Cornerstone Church in 2019.

Commenting on why Dr. Valderrama’s proposal was selected, Diane Greer noted, “We were particularly impressed by her preference for employing an auto-ethnographic approach to the evaluation. This allows her to draw on her own epilogues experience to critically examine the practices observed during the workshops”.
